Our History
In 1956, over dinner at Ruby’s in Palm Springs, Paul and Isabel Prom and Jean Susalla conceived the idea that would become Indian Wells Country Club. Soon after, the Classic Course was built and the Bob Hope Desert Classic became one of golf’s most celebrated events.
Throughout its storied history, the Club has been the setting for legendary rounds and historic events, hosting presidents and Hollywood's elite. In 1960, Arnold Palmer recorded his 11th career hole-in-one here during the Bob Hope event, and in 2016, Indian Wells honored founding Member Desi Arnaz by dedicating "Desi's Deck" in his honor.
Today, the Club carries that spirit forward as we welcome a new generation of Members. The fairways and patios still echo with stories, laughter, and the kind of camaraderie that made Indian Wells a favorite among legends, yet the experience feels as fresh and inviting as ever.
